
Diesel fuel injectors are responsible for correctly distributing fuel to each cylinder. The fuel is pressurized by a fuel pump, which is an essential part of the vehicle's combustion process. They are typically composed of multiple components that work together to control the fuel injection process, including nozzles, valves, solenoids, and needle valves. Fuel injection timing is crucial for optimal combustion and needs to be precisely synchronized with the engine's cycles. In modern diesel engines, this timing is controlled by the engine's Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The ECU receives inputs from various sensors to determine the optimal injection timing under given operating conditions. After passing through the nozzle, the fuel must be evenly sprayed into the combustion chamber to work efficiently. Therefore, the injector opens and closes multiple times in less than a second to mix the fuel with the air in the combustion chamber. If too much or too little fuel enters the engine, it will result in a rich or lean mixture, which may cause the vehicle to stall. Compared with gasoline engines, diesel engines have a higher compression ratio and higher pressure in the cylinders to ensure sufficient atomization and distribution of fuel, thereby generating more heat to ignite the fuel and start the vehicle.
